2013 Trek Madone Brake Recall

A small number of 2013 Trek Madone road bikes equipped with Bontrager brakes were made with an attachment bolt on the front brake quick-release that can loosen. This could allow the cable clamp to detach a potentially result in the loss of the front brake of the bicycle. If this happens the rider could have difficulty stopping the bicycle.

The models known to be affected.
  • 2013 Madone 5.2 (standard and WSD)
  • 2013 Madone 5.9 (standard)
  • 2013 Madone 6.2 (standard and WSD)
  • 2013 Madone 6.5 (standard)
  • 2013 Madone 7.7 (standard)
  • 2013 Madone 7.9 (standard and WSD)

If you purchased one of these new 2013 models-

DO NOT RIDE YOUR BIKE UNTIL THE FRONT BRAKE HAS BEEN INSPECTED
If the front brake loses functionality unexpectedly, you could have difficulty stopping your bicycle. Do not ride this bike until it has been inspected and determined if the attachment bolt is affected by the recall.
